TRAVEL | Beach Cove - Coastal Retreat

Hey Everyone!

Has anyone else had a long running battle with New Year's Eve? It normally includes over priced drinks, people ruining your evening and maybe a few tears.. am i right?! For the past 3 years me and my boyfriend have decided to avoid NYE like the plague and go on a little UK adventure for a few days! Whilst looking on the internet in late November and not really being able to find anything i suddenly stumbled across Beach Cove Resort in Ilfracombe, Devon. These picturesque pastel beach huts with shabby chic interior instantly caught my eye! We managed to actually get a really good price and ended up booking for a 4 night 5 day trip and despite the torrential downpours and gail force winds, we had the most loveliest time..

We arrived so late on the Tuesday night even though we had been travelling all day and left with plenty of time to spare. There was a storm brewing so most of the country roads had flooded, we rang the main office on several occasions and the team where superb! I can't fault their customer service, they made us feel at ease and not worried to arrive late and when we finally did arrive we where greeted with a lovely smile and a bottle of prosecco which was very welcomed!

As it was about 7.30pm it was already dark and we couldn't really see the view, but we knew it was going to be great as we could already hear the waves crashing on the beach! We opted for the Cairnwood Premier - Beach Cove, we would of gone for the same but with a sea view however they where all sold old. The premier lodges still have fantastic views, however they may be a little restricted by the beach huts in front.

The lodges come with everything you need and are self catering. They are also very well kept and incredibly clean! They had fluffy white dressing gowns, slippers and fresh towels all at our disposal and as we opted for a hot tub they where very welcomed and came in extremely handy! If you can pay a little extra for the hot tub, i would advise it. It rained most days but this extra kept us from getting too bored as we sat in the hot tub and admired amazing Hele Bay view!

Just because it was raining for the majority of the week it didn't stop us from putting our wellies on and adventuring out into the fresh air we really enjoyed going for beach walks on the Hele Bay a few steps away from the huts but there was also Ilfracombe Habour and the National Park nearby. I also wanted to mention Exmoor National Park Zoo as it was by far one of the best value for money Zoo's I've been too. The entrance was £12.95 and they had so many beautiful animals with feedings going on throughout the day. The staff where lovely and they had a cute little cafĂ© on-site that did yummy grub! It was only 25 minutes from the beach resort and was worth every penny!

So there it is, the perfect New Year getaway.. If your looking for a mini weekend break whether it be for an anniversary or mini-moon i would highly recommend Beach Cove Resort. We really enjoyed our week here and would love to return during the summer!

  1. The beach cabins look so cute! We went away to Scotland and they had cabins too with hot tubs and despite the cold weather there was so much adventure to be had and then at the end of the day (and the start sometimes) we just jumped in the hot tub and chilled out!

Looks like a lovely way to celebrate NYE, much better than all the drama out at the clubs and pubs!
